Beyonce knows full well about the conspiracy theories that ran rampant during her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Finally, the new mom addresses the fake baby bump rumors and explains why the gossip was no skin off her back.
“That was crazy,” Beyonce told People of rumors that her baby bump was a fake. “It wasn’t hurtful, it was just crazy. [I thought] ‘Where did they come up with this?’”
Speaking specifically of a television show appearance that allegedly showed the 30-year-old’s faux bump deflating as she sat down, Beyonce shot back mockingly, “It was a fabric that folded—does fabric not fold? Oh my gosh, so stupid.”
Seemingly more bothered by the Beyonce fake baby bump rumors than the singer herself was her mother, Tina Knowles.
“I thought it was very unfair and very cruel that someone would think that someone would be that diabolical to keep up a charade like that for nine months,” Blue Ivy’s grandmother commented. “As a mother it was painful for me to hear the crazy rumors. And I even had people ask me, which was so ridiculous.”
