Danica McKellar on son’s ABC’s, 1-2-3′s and the Quadratic Formula

Danica McKellar’s son Draco is getting an advanced math lesson at the tender age of not-quite 2. The actress, known best as Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years, sings her son not only the basics, but the quadratic formula as well!

“We’re working on some things. He knows his colors and his shapes,” Danica McKellar recently told People of what she and 23-month-old son Draco are up to.

“He still gets seven when he counts the toes on one foot — he really likes seven right now!” the 37-year-old math guru added. “He likes it when I recite Pi. And I’m trying to teach him the quadratic formula, he hasn’t quite gotten it yet. It’s sung to the tune of ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’.”

Aside from teaching her son the ins and outs of numbers, Danica McKellar hopes girls worldwide will find confidence in math, much as she did years ago!

“Math for me [gave me the most confidence],” the Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape author explained. “After The Wonder Years ended, here I was, this ex-child actress. You have to find your identity somewhere. For me, I found it in feeling smart and good about myself.”
