It’s a girl for Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson! The new parents welcomed a daughter on Tuesday in Los Angeles, opting to announce news of her birth via the singer’s own website.

“Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson,” Jessica Simpson wrote to fans. “We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”

Why is Jessica Simpson’s baby named Maxwell Drew? The moniker serves to honor multiple family members on both her, and his, side of the family. “Maxwell” is both the new father’s names as well as his grandmother’s maiden name, while “Drew” is the middle name of Jessica’s mother, Tina Simpson.

The name honorees, along with a few other family members, were spotted arriving at a Los Angeles hospital to meet their newest family member early Tuesday morning.
