Jillian Michaels is learning firsthand that putting yourself first is easier said than done for most moms. Now that the fitness trainer is the mother of two, she’s having a harder time sticking to the advice she’s given others for so long!
“I used to tell moms that for the sake of their well-being they had to put themselves first,” Jillian Michaels, who covers Shape magazine for the second time, said. “But I know now that’s not always possible.”
As for how life has changed between the photoshoot for her first cover and the 2012 experience, the 38-year-old shared, “I have two kids. I think that really says it all in every possible way. I don’t watch Mad Men orTrue Blood anymore I watch Barney! You know, I have play dates now instead of happy hour. It’s a whole new world.”
Admitting she wasn’t able to stick to the workout plan she originally had in mind, Jillian Michaels now aims to exercise four times a week. ”Sometimes you’ve got to make your work and workouts co-exist,” she advised, adding that fitting in fitness while taking daughter Lukensia to the park or pool works well for their family.
