Lisa Marie Presley’s daughters won’t ever know what it’s like to have a famous mother, hopefully. The daughter of late legend Elvis Presley is determined to keep her twin girls out of the limelight and away from the sometimes awful media scrutiny.
Speaking to ELLE magazine, Lisa Marie Presley insists she’s happier than ever living in England with husband Michael Lockwood and 3-year-old twins Harper and Finley.
“I don’t want them to see this part of my life,” the 44-year-old said of her daughters and fame. They won’t understand it. [I don't want them to] focus on really unimportant things like ‘Who Wore It Best.’”
Admitting that negative press has a huge effect on her, Presley added, “I’m horrible like that, I want to see it, and then I’m just devastated because they’re so mean on the Internet.”
Hard to believe from someone who seems to put up such a tough, cocky front? It’s all a facade, she says.
“I think people think I’m harder and more arrogant and cocky than I am because I know how to put on a front, but it’s nothing like who I am inside. I think people reveal themselves in their opposites. To be honest, I’m really overly, scarily sensitive, and I feel way too much, so I have to have something to hide under.”
As for the twin girls, it turns out Harper has her father’s calmness, while Finley is feisty like her mother. “She will out-temper me, out-fuss me, out-yell me,” Lisa Marie Presley said of Finley. Perhaps it’s payback for the sins of her own rebellious youth? “I think so,” she laughed at the suggestion, “I know so.”
