Sounds Like Katie Holmes is Getting Primary Custody of Suri

Rumor has it Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have agreed on how they will co-parent Suri Cruise post-divorce. Us Weekly reported Tuesday that the actress will get primary legal custody of their 6-year-old daughter, while the actor will have generous visitation rights.

“The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life,” Katie Holmes’ attorney said in a statement.

Tom Cruise‘s lawyer also released a statement, saying, “Tom is really pleased we got there, and so am I.”

The pair had previously issued the joint statement below, though neither has further commented to the press:

“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”

I would agree that this deal makes the most sense. You don’t take a little girl away from her mommy unless there’s a serious problem. I’m sure Tom is a fine dad and will see her quite a bit.
