When young Suri Cruise goes to visit her mother, Katie Holmes, at work the sets are generally nice and her mother looks beautiful. When she visits daddy Tom Cruise while he’s filming Rock of Ages? Well, that’s a whole other story — told by the actor himself.

“When I had the eyeliner on and the painted nails, she was a little taken aback by that. She was like, ‘What is happening to my daddy?’” Tom Cruise laughed during an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show Monday.

Speaking of his 6-year-old daughter with wife Katie Holmes, the actor added, “When she shows up on this set … here I am with black nail polish and eyeliner. She just kind of takes it all in.”

“I joke with friends because she goes to Kate’s set and there’s hair and makeup, and it’s a very nice set,” the 49-year-old Rock of Ages star added. “Then Suri comes to my sets and she’s got to wear a hard helmet, there’s explosions going off, Dad’s all bloody and he’s bruised!”
